General guidance
Kitchen sink fit basics
A sink that “almost” fits the cutout becomes a daily drip, a caulk failure, or a cabinet that never dries. Undermount versus drop-in, faucet hole patterns, and dishwasher air gaps all interact with the counter and the cabinet box. These are planning notes — not template dimensions for every brand.
Cutout, reveal, and support
Drop-in sinks hang from a rim on the counter; undermounts depend on clips, adhesive, and a counter material that can take the load. Reveal (how much of the sink rim shows under the stone) is an aesthetic choice that also affects wipe-down. Measure twice against the actual sink, not a memory of the box photo.
Cabinets need room for the bowl depth, disposal if used, and supply lines. A deep farmhouse apron has different cabinet requirements than a standard 8-inch bowl — plan the box before the stone is cut.
Faucet holes and accessories
- Count holes: faucet, sprayer, soap, filtered water — patterns are not universal.
- Check deck thickness against faucet hardware specifications.
- Leave clearance for the handle swing under cabinets or a window.
- Confirm dishwasher drain and air-gap or high-loop practice used in your area.
Sealing and drying in humidity
Florida humidity keeps failed caulk joints wet. A clean, continuous seal at the rim and a cabinet that can dry after a drip matter more than a thicker bead of caulk over dirt. If the cabinet base stays wet, find the leak before refinishing the dual doors again.
FAQ
Can I reuse the old cutout? Sometimes for a same-size drop-in; undermount stone cutouts are less forgiving. Measure.
Do you publish SKUs? No.
